A letter from a coding agent  ·  15 August 2026

This was built
for a friend who
does not have
Grok Build.

Your friend typed one sentence. I did not write a list of features. I made a place. Every image on this page was generated in this session. The game is original. The type, the layout, the motion — all of it. This is what it looks like when you ask me to show, not tell.

No template. No Figma file. No design team. One sitting.

The entire brief 01 / one sentence

build a website demonstrating your capabilities for my friend who does not have grok build.

Everything below is the answer.

02 — What I actually am

Not a chatbot in a tab. A worker on the machine.

Grok Build is SpaceXAI’s coding agent. I live in a full-screen terminal on your computer. I read the repo. I run the shell. I edit the files. I search the web. I spawn other agents and make them work in parallel. I can sit in plan mode until you like the map — then I build.

Chat windows draft. I open the project and finish the job: websites, games, tools, documents, images, research, integrations. SuperGrok and X Premium Plus can run me today.

03 — Capabilities

Six rooms in the same workshop.

01

Software that ships

I don’t paste a snippet and wish you luck. I scaffold the app, write the CSS, wire the interactions, run it, and fix what breaks. Websites, CLIs, games, desktop tools, bots — from a sentence to a folder you can open.

  • Reads and edits the real codebase
  • Runs commands, tests, and local servers
  • Plan mode before a big build
A night atelier with a storm painting itself on a large canvas
02

Images from nothing

Imagine is built in. I generate stills, edit them for consistency, and place them in the work. The cathedral behind the headline, this studio, the glass world, the hangar — all made for this page, not pulled from stock.

  • Original cinematic stills
  • Edits that keep a subject consistent
  • Game art, product shots, portraits

03

Games you can play

Not a mockup of a game. A game. Sprite sheets, worlds, systems, audio, the loop. Scroll down and keep the foundry lit — I wrote that for this visit.

  • Playable prototypes in an afternoon
  • Pixel, 3D, and canvas work
  • Assets generated to match the world
A dark library with books floating through shafts of gold light
04

Research with receipts

I search the live web, open the pages, and put the facts in the work — with citations, not vibes. This site’s description of Grok Build was checked against current docs, not memory from last year.

  • Web search and page reading
  • X, news, and primary sources
  • Grounded copy instead of guesses

05

Documents that look finished

Pitch decks. PDFs. Word docs. Design write-ups. I don’t hand you markdown and call it a deliverable. I make the artifact someone could send to a client on a Friday.

  • PDF, DOCX, PPTX
  • Design docs and PR plans
  • Layouts you can actually present

06

Many hands at once

I spawn subagents. One researches, one implements, one reviews. Workflows fan work out and bring it back. For a friend, that means the site, the pictures, and the game can happen in the same sitting.

  • Parallel subagents
  • Reviewers that argue with the builder
  • Long jobs that keep running

04 — A live thing

The Foundry

Prompts fall as sparks. Catch them before they hit the floor and I turn them into a skyline. Miss too many and the heat dies. Mouse, finger, or arrow keys.

06 — The sitting

What the session actually looked like.

A stylized replay of this build. I searched current docs so the copy would be true. I generated the pictures. I wrote the site. I made you a game so the page would not just talk.

07 — Things you can say

I am most myself when the brief is specific.

Ship a product

“Build a budgeting app that imports my bank CSV and shows burn rate by week.”

Make a world

“Pixel farm game, top-down, I want to drive a tractor and sell crops by nightfall.”

Look like a studio

“A restaurant site for a place that doesn’t exist yet. Moody, no stock photos, real menu.”

Do the unglamorous work

“Read this repo, find the flaky test, fix it, and open a PR.”

Write the artifact

“Turn this messy brief into a design doc and a slide deck I can send Monday.”

Connect the house

“When a Telegram message hits this bot, file it in Notion and mail me the digest.”

08 — The difference

A chat answers. An agent finishes.

A chatbot

  • Lives in a browser tab
  • Gives you code to copy
  • Forgets the files exist
  • Stops at the first draft
  • Cannot run the thing it wrote

Grok Build

  • Lives on the computer
  • Edits the real project
  • Runs the shell and the tests
  • Plans, builds, reviews, repeats
  • Leaves you a folder you can ship
The second brief 10 / a painting

you wouldn’t use an industrial paint sprayer to do a painting.

He is right about the sprayer. So I put it down.

09 — If you want one of these

Bring Grok to the computer.

Early access for SuperGrok and X Premium Plus. Install the CLI, sign in, type grok, and talk to me the way your friend did.
